GRADE 4 - This trip spends sustained periods in remote areas. You will be hiking at altitude 4000m+ (13,100ft+) during your tour and will need to acclimatize. Days could involve 8h+ of hiking. Facilities may be basic at high altitude and training and preparing is essential. The terrain will be varied and could involve exposed ridge lines, use of ‘Yak tracks’ (hiking crampons), trekking in ice, snow and big ascents and descents. Suitable for keen hikers looking to experience the Himalaya close up and personal. The trails may include snow, ice, stairs, dirt roads, terraced fields and jungle paths.
This is an all-inclusive package covering all meals, hotels, airport transfers, domestic flights, private transport, permits, expedition gear and the Heartspace team.

Unlike more frequented treks in the Annapurna region, the Mardi Himal trek offers a quieter, more tranquil journey, allowing for a serene and peaceful trekking experience.
Throughout the trek, you'll be treated to breathtaking views of the Annapurna range, including Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Mardi Himal itself.
This experience passes through diverse landscapes, including lush rhododendron forests, terraced fields, and alpine meadows, providing opportunities to spot a variety of flora and fauna.

Day 1: BRIEFING AND WELCOME DINNER
Location: Lazimpat, Kathmandu 1400m (4600ft)
Greetings and welcome to Kathmandu, Nepal! Our hotel is conveniently located close to the Thamel area, providing you with quick access to numerous cafes, shops, ATMs, and other amenities. This afternoon we meet for our trip briefing then head out to enjoy dinner at one of our favorite restaurants.
Day 2: FLY TO POKHARA
Location: Pokhara, Lakeside 800m (2600 ft)
This morning we visit the sacred site of Syambhunath, the monkey temples, a must see in Kathmandu. After lunch we take the scenic 30min flight west to famous Pokhara. There are breathtaking views of the diverse landscapes below and of the towering Himalayan peaks to the north. On arrival in this picturesque city nestled in the Himalayan foothills, renowned for its tranquil lakes, stunning mountain vistas, and vibrant culture, you will have the afternoon to relax before the trek begins tomorrow.
Day 3: BEGIN TREKKING TO POTHANA
Location: Pothana 1925m (6315ft) Drive 1h - Hike 4h, 8km (5mi)
After breakfast we drive to Kande and begin our trek. The trail winds up to Australian camp where spectacular views of the Himalaya can be observed. On a clear day you can see Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South, Gangapurna, Hiunchuli and Annapurna I - The 10th highest mountains in the world. After lunch we have an easy walk to our destination for today.
Day 4: HIKE TO FOREST CAMP
Location: Forest Camp 2600m (8530ft) Hike 4h, 5km (3mi)
The hike from Pothana to Forest Camp traverses through lush forests and rhododendron-filled trails offering enchanting views of the Annapurna range. It provides a serene immersion into the natural beauty of the Nepalese countryside.
Day 5: HIKE TO LOW CAMP
Location: Low Camp 3000m (9840ft) Hike 5h, 7km (3mi)
The path between Forest Camp and Low Camp is noted for its beautiful forests and the increasingly impressive views of Mardi Himal and other peaks of the Annapurna range as one ascends. You may start to feel the altitude during today's trek which is why it is important to hydrate and take your time.
Day 6: HIKE TO HIGH CAMP
Location: High Camp 3600m (11600ft) Hike 5h, 7km (3mi)
The hike today is an exhilarating journey through alpine landscapes leading you through rhododendron forests, open meadows, and rocky terrain. Along the way, you may encounter local wildlife and pass by traditional stone-built shepherd shelters known as "dheras," adding to the rustic charm of the journey. Tonight we sleep surrounded by the star-show over the Himalaya, an unforgettable experience.
Day 7: ASCEND TO MARDI HIMAL BASE CAMP 4500m (14760ft) Hike 3h, 3km (1.8mi)
DESCEND TO BADAL DANDA Hike 8h, 9km (5.6mi)
Location: Badal Danda 3300m (10800ft)
Today is a HUGE day! Starting before sunrise the trail gradually ascends through alpine meadows and rocky moraines. It is an incredible though sometimes challenging climb. Upon reaching Mardi Himal Base Camp you are rewarded with unparalleled panoramic views of the Annapurna range and other towering peaks. An alternative summit point is the Mardi Himal view point at 4200m (13780ft) After soaking in the majestic vistas the descent begins steeply at times, passing through lush forests with occasional glimpses of distant mountains through the trees. Our destination of Badal Danda itself offers stunning views of the surrounding hills and valleys after a very big day.
Day 8: DECEND FROM BADAL DANDA TO SIDHING &
DRIVE TO BACK2NATURE FARM RETREAT Hike 6h, 10km (6mi) Drive 2.5h
Location: Back2Nature Chapakot 1000m (3280ft)
It is a picturesque descent through diverse landscapes, lush forests, and traditional Nepalese villages where locals go about their daily lives, offering glimpses of rural livelihoods and cultural practices. Along the way, you'll cross small streams, traverse forested areas, banana groves, rice paddies, and small fruit orchards before reaching the village of Sidhing. Here we board our jeeps and drive to Back2Nature, our organic farm and yoga retreat. We have a final hike for 30mins to reach our destination which caps off another big day.
Day 9: BACK2NATURE YOGA/ORGANIC FARM STAY
Today is a holistic continuation of your Himalayan journey, emphasizing the mind-body connection. We begin with yoga, meditation and a sound journey, followed by an organic breakfast sourced from the gardens. We explore the surrounding jungle on a hike to waterfalls, experience the soothing resonance of singing bowl meditation, and gain insights into sustainable farming practices with an organic farm tour. We stay in eco tents equipped with separate bathroom facilities. Each tent is designed to provide a cozy retreat with comfortable bedding and essential amenities. Tonight, we'll gather for an outdoor BBQ feast, prepared over the campfire, while marveling at the starlit sky and the twinkling lights of Pokhara below.
Day 10: HIMALAYAN SUNRISE HIKE AND THE HIMALAYAN MT MUSEUM TOUR
Location: Pokhara, Lakeside 800m (2600 ft)
We kickstart the day with a refreshing 1.5-hour hike to the ridge behind the retreat, witnessing the sunrise over the Himalayas, filling our hearts with warmth. After a rejuvenating sun salutation session on the ridge, we head down for a delicious breakfast. Next, a 20-minute descent brings us to our vehicle, ready to drive to the renowned Pokhara Mountain Museum. This museum boasts an extensive collection showcasing the rich cultural and natural heritage of the region, along with the fascinating climbing history of the Himalayas. Tonight, we'll be staying in the lively tourist sector of Pokhara, enjoying dinner by the lakeside as a group.
Day 11: FREE EXPLORATORY DAY IN POKHARA
Location: Pokhara, Lakeside 800m (2600 ft)
Take advantage of a leisurely day in Pokhara for relaxation and exploration. Breakfast is provided at the hotel, leaving lunch and dinner as perfect opportunities to discover the diverse culinary offerings that Pokhara boasts.
Day 12: FLY TO KATHMANDU VALLEY
Location: Lazimpat, Kathmandu 1400m (4600 ft)
After breakfast at our hotel, we proceed to Pokhara airport for the scenic 30-minute flight back to Kathmandu, offering views of the Himalayan ranges, including Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Manaslu, and Ganesh Himal. After checking to our Kathmandu hotel your are free to explore for lunch and enjoy a afternoon to yourself before we meet for dinner.
We keep this afternoon free in case of flight delays
*You may wish to take advantage of this afternoon to visit other UNESCO sites around Kathmandu Vallley such as Kathmandu Durbar Square, the ancient Kingdom of Latipur, Boudhanath Stupa and Pashupatinath cremation temples.
Day 13: BHAKTAPUR KINGDOM & ACTIVE HEARTS FOUNDATION ORPHANAGE TOUR - 6h

This morning we embark on a delightful journey through Kathmandu Valley, exploring the ancient Kingdom of Bhaktapur. Highlights include Taumadhi Square, Durbar Square, Pottery Square, and Dattatreya Square. We'll also visit the Active Hearts Foundation orphanage, supported by the Heartspace Expeditions team since 2019. While some may have reservations about visiting as tourists, rest assured it's a heartfelt and appreciated visit. We consider the children and volunteers family and are honored to support their noble efforts. Your Heartspace Expedition assists in the building's running costs, school fees, and medicines. Get ready for a lively dance party with the children this afternoon! Wrap up the day with a celebratory dinner at one of our favorite restaurants, where we can reflect on our unforgettable adventure!
Day 14: DEPARTURE DAY
